Did you know?

Wax is an amorphous substance. The melting point of amorphous substances (glass, paraffin, wax), cannot be precisely determined, meaning these substances melt gradually. Making and using a candle lets us see all its states – the solid and liquid wax and gaseous wax vapours as the candle burns.

The opposite can be observed, for example, as lead melts; it turns from a solid to a liquid in a flash. Lead is a solid crystalline substance with a melting point of 327 °C.
