What is radioactivity and where is it used? Can it be seen, heard or otherwise detected?
In this program, pupils will explore the invisible world of radioactivity — observing it, measuring it, and discovering both its fascinating applications and potential risks.
What will students experience?
- making a DIY cloud chamber to make radiation visible,
- symbolic "touch" the very nucleus of an atom,
- measuring real radioactive objects using a detection device.
Educational objectives of the program
Students:
- distinguish between a safe and a dangerous dose of ionizing radiation,
- understand the nature of radioactive transformations,
- present a selected application of radioactivity or ionizing radiation to classmates.
Safe space
The program takes place in a completely safe space. It has been pre-consulted with the State Office for Nuclear Safety and prepared with the technical support of ADVACAM s.r.o.
