Archimedische Schraube
Set the screw in motion and watch how the water captured in the threads by gravitation is pumped upwards
Archimedes??™ screw is one of the oldest methods of pumping water. This simple pump was made and described by Archimedes (287??“212 BC). He found inspiration in ancient Egypt where water was pumped in a similar way. In the past the Archimedes' screw was an important element in ships where its role was to pump away wastewater. It is still in use today, a similar screw pump can be found in the sewage plant in Brno, and it is also used for the transport of grain in combine harvesters.
