Geyser

Can you predict the eruption of a geyser?

Based on monitoring changes in temperature and pressure try to forecast the geyser??™s eruption. Geysers can be compared to a natural fountain which regularly gushes a column of hot water and steam up to a height of several dozen metres. Their origin is connected with regions of volcanic activity. A pool of water that is found dozens of metres below the ground is heated by rising heat from the magmatic melt. This is situated at a depth of around 2 000 m below the surface of the Earth. After reaching boiling point water changes into water vapour increasing its volume by as much as 1600 times. The resulting eruption causes the gushing of hot water and stream through a channel upwards. The water cools down on the Earth??™s surface and flows back via a system of cracks and the whole process starts anew.
