Launch a flood wave and observe what is happening in the individual water channels and what impact it has on the villages downstream. A flood is a natural phenomenon when excessive water overflows the river channels and floods the surrounding landscape. Higher water level in the rivers may be caused by thawing snow, sudden torrential rains or those lasting over a long period. The area around the water channel is called the floodplain.
