On the display you can distinguish warmer (red or yellow) and cooler (green or blue) parts of the body. Infrared radiation, the existence of which was confirmed in 1800 by British astronomer William Hershel, is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 800??“3000 nanometres. It is radiated by all bodies including ours. The human eye is not able to perceive it. To make infrared radiation visible we use thermography (thermographic cameras) assigning quasi-colours to temperatures from the infrared spectrum.
