DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is the carrier of genetic information and is found in all living organisms. In the human body and that of other animals and plants it can be identified in the nuclei of cells, while in bacteria it is stored directly in the cytoplasm inside the cell. A DNA molecule consists of two strands that intertwine and form the characteristic shape of a double-helix. Each strand contains multiple parts called nucleotides, sequenced one after another.
