Try to pile up the weights so that the arms are in balance. Scales are instruments for measuring weight by means of gravity with which the weighed object acts on the underlying layer. Balance scales always work on the principle of a lever. If the fulcrum is situated in the middle we talk of equal arm scales. If the fulcrum is shifted towards one end, they are unequal arm scales.
