Sight disorders may be caused by improper refraction of the rays entering the eye, and subsequent faulty projection of the image onto the retina (near-sightedness, far-sightedness or astigmatism). The result is blurred vision. Another cause of sight deficiencies is the faulty perception of colour. Colour blindness develops when the cones on the retina do not work correctly. Every animal perceives a different colour spectrum. Dogs may be colour blind but sense yellow and red well. As insects are even able to perceive infrared colours they are attracted to flowers which contain these colours.
