Test bridge structures
Fix one of the models of a bridge structure between the stands. Press on the bridge with your finger and through a polarising foil watch the impact load images. They can be observed in front of the light box as coloured areas which change depending on the pressure applied. You can build an arch bridge from the construction kit parts. The structure must be designed so that when it is under load the permitted tension in material is not exceeded in any of its parts. Tension of various magnitudes develops in the different spots of the structure under load which can lead to its breaking. The exhibit shows the influence of the shape of the structure on its total loading capacity.
