Rotate the blades of a water wheel
Use the Archimedes??™ screw to get the necessary water above the wheel. Then you can watch how the falling water turns the wheel. The water falls from above on one half of the water wheel and passes on its kinetic energy to it. But in most wheels this would not suffice to start it turning, so the water also fills the buckets of the wheel. Buckets filled with water are heavier than the dry ones on the other side and due to gravitation the wheel will start to turn.
