Create the eye of a tropical cyclone
Crank the handle and watch the circulating water in the cylinder. Can you pull the rubber balloon to the bottom and create the eye of a cyclone? A tropical cyclone is a rotating mass of air formed above the heated sea surface. Warm air rises and a low-pressure area is created - the cyclone. But in tropical regions the air is saturated with water vapour which condenses as it rises and clouds are formed. The Coriolis force is then responsible for the rotation of these clouds.
