Fall eines Magnets
Watch the magnet??s behaviour with different materials
Release the magnetic ring at the end of the rod on which it slides and watch the different speeds of the fall and the behaviour of the rings on rods made of different materials ??“ copper, brass, carbon, aluminium and steel. The bodies accelerate as they are acted upon by the weight force. This is the resultant force of the gravitational force of the Earth and the centrifugal force generated by Earth??™s turning around its axis. As the speed increases, the resistant forces acting against the direction of the movement also increase. You can easily imagine the impact of the resistance of the air on the fall of a man with a parachute. Air resistance also acts upon a falling magnet, but only marginally. It is much more affected by the magnetic force caused by so-called eddy currents produced by moving a magnet around a conductor.
